Fitness Assessments- Objective Information
Introduction
A personal trainer’s initial goal when engaging a new client should be to learn as much as they can about that person. It’s time to move on to getting the diagnostics of your new client utilizing tools like their body composition and the cardiorespiratory, static postural, and dynamic postural evaluations after getting all the information you need from them in the initial interview. Information is essential to creating a good client program. Knowing a client’s history, health difficulties, level of mental and physical capacity, and present living condition can make the difference between a successful and unsuccessful program. Obtaining objective data about a customer in addition to the subjective data might assist a trainer evaluate a client. To track a client’s progress during a program, having a baseline to refer to might be helpful. We are now prepared to sit down and create an effective program that will make Willie’s goals attainable within a two-month timeframe after receiving all of his baseline exams.
Background on your Client
Willie Fears is a thirty-three-year-old Marine Corp Veteran. He was never much of an athlete growing up and only started taking his training seriously when he decided he wanted to join the Marines. Because military work is physically taxing and demands a physically fit guy to function successfully, he had to alter. His pursuit of physical fitness was motivated by his desire in a military position. He started with simple sit-ups, runs, and push-ups. Willie was able to complete 40 pushups, 42 sit-ups, and run two miles in under 20 minutes, which allowed him to attain exceptional results. Additionally, he achieved his ideal physique, which inspired him to keep up his level of exercise. Willie stayed physically active throughout his military career for both personal and professional reasons as well as to pass the semi-annual fitness tests administered by the Marine Corps. However, numerous injuries ended his military service early and had an impact on his exercise routine. Willie has a dislocated shoulder, shin splits, a strained calf muscle, and other minor wounds. Additionally, he was hurt in an accident, which made his lower back issue worse. His training was hampered by these wounds, which also reduced his level of fitness. He has also had little time for exercise due to his obligations to his family, his education, and his employment.
Objective Information
All verifiable or data-based information, such as physiological measures like heart rate and blood pressure, is referred to as objective information. This also covers any physical examinations that involve measurements of posture and body composition. Since every individual is different and no one program can meet everyone’s demands, having all this knowledge is essential in the training industry. This covers a person’s medical history, experience, health, and daily routines; for this reason, it’s crucial to acquire all of this information at the outset of a new client appointment. I would measure Willie’s , waist, biceps, thighs, calves, and chest as part of the fitness evaluation. When comparing all the evaluations, this one seemed to meet his objectives the best.
Assessment Process and Data Results
The client, Willie, was mainly interested in knowing his body fat percentage and circumference measurements to determine his progression. This was particularly the best option since we were aiming for strength and muscle size. A standard measuring tape was used to take all of his measurements. A body composition analyzer at the gym was used to determine Willies body fat percentage. This came out at . Generally, these measurements are an indication of a good healthy zone. Based on the results, the focus shall be on lean muscle and muscle growth.
Physiological Measurements
Willie is 33 years old, 6 foot 2 inches tall, has a heart rate of 62 beats per minute, and his blood pressure is 129. For his age group, these are within the typical range (Chapters 11, Sutton, B., 2022).
Body Composition Assessment
A body analyzer was used to measure his body composition, which showed a reading of 18 percent body fat. He had a waist measuring in at 32 inch and hips at 34, giving a ratio of .94. With a weight of 190 lbs., Willie is well overweight (Chapters 11, Sutton, B., 2022). This is not a good representation of health, especially given that he could previously run a mile in under 8 minutes and lift twice his body weight.
Cardiorespiratory Assessment
During his time at the Marine Corp, Willie had to run a mile and a half for his annual cardiorespiratory assessment. He hoped he still had it in him to perform under ten minutes for this test. However, it took him 11 minutes and 47 seconds to finish the set distance. Even though it was a lag on his previous performance, it was still an indication of good cardiorespiratory health (Chapters 11, Sutton, B., 2022).
Static Posture Assessment
Nothing notable could be seen from his staticposture. He had a very proper posture. However, there was a slight tightness of the chest with his shoulders a tad forward, which was not anything of concern (Chapters 12, Sutton, 2022).
Dynamic Posture Assessment
Willie had no problem doing a by-the-book clean overhead squat. There was a slight turn of the foot as he was trying to get deeper into the hole, which was an indication of tight hips. He also had no problem performing the single leg squat and was flawless on the push pull (Chapters 12, Sutton, 2022).
Performance Assessment
As Willies aim is to gain strength, it was necessary to assess his three main compound movements, which include squats, bench, and dead lift (Chapters 12, Sutton, 2022). In the initial session, he was able to able to do one rep for each exercise after a proper warm up. He benched 300 lbs., squatted 350 lbs., and deadlifted 390 lbs.
Implementing Fitness Assessment
With all this data gathered, it is upon the trainer to produce an exercise regimen that will suit the clients needs and help them get closer to their goals within a given period. In the case of Willie, this information will be used to develop a program that will help him achieve his goal of gaining strength and increasing his size. The program will consist of five days of exercise and two rest days. There will be a heavy strength day, an upper body day, a lower body day, a push pull day, and finally a leg day. The collection of this data is of the utmost significance when taking on a new client since it helps set the pace to realizing the clients as well as the trainers fullest potential. Not getting the necessary information may be a hindrance to the client achieving their fitness goals.
As much as most clients might not pay attention to this information, it is helps them keep tabs with their state of fitness and ultimately their health. Knowing how to do this assessment will help Willie (me) know how to maintain a perfect physique and adjust on areas he might be lagging. This is the major lesson that was gotten from this assignment, how to properly assess a client and develop a fitness program with the resulting information.
Conclusion
The initial objective of any personal trainer should be to promptly get all the information they want about their new client. After that, start gathering the appropriate kinds of physiological information to use in developing a sound strategy for getting your new customer where they want to go. Utilizing all of these resources and being able to analyze this information will ensure that you, as a personal trainer, can assist your new client in reaching their objectives. Willie is off to a terrific start and doesn’t require much assistance but having him complete these assessments helped us establish a benchmark for comparison as we work our way through his new regimen. All that is left to do now is incorporate his data into a workout that is certain to increase strength and muscle gain.
